The Putney Foodshelf provides supplemental healthy food for area people in need. We also run a Family Food Bag program at Putney Central School sending a bag of groceries home on Fridays year-round for 10 families.
What We Do
The Putney Foodshelf is open Tuesdays 6-7 pm and Saturdays 9-10 am providing supplemental healthy food to area people in need. Begun in 2005 by the Genesis Curch of the Brethren, it moved to the Putney Community Center in 2008 when the Church closed its doors. It now has attained its own 501 (c) (3) nonprofit status in 2014.
We have an active group of 20 volunteers managed by a board of 6 officers. We work towards outreach and education partnering with area schools, farms and local organizations. We are 100% volunteer based and depend heavily on donations and volunteers --- both are always welcome!
